MMA headlines for November 2018

Cris Cyborg isn’t impressed with Amanda Nunes fight timeline

The Featherweight Champion has no personal quashes with the Bantamweight Champion, but she feels the latter has been delaying the Champion vs. Champion fight for long. This will be the first time Women’s history in UFC that two Champions will be pitted against each other in December. When Cyborg defeated Holly Holm last December at UFC 219, speculations regarding such a fight grew, but Nunes took time to progress to a new weight division before getting into the fight.

Cyborg hit out at Nunes as she was the one who called out for the fight, and to take 9 months to plan and get ready for a fight is not going down well with her. In the meantime Cyborg defended her title against Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 although the her initial competitor was Max Holloway but her injury kept her out. Raquel Pennington was Nunes’ competitor for the title at UFC 224, which the latter successfully defended.

Brock Lesnar still keeping the Cormier fight at bay

Lesnar is keeping everybody on edge after a secret signing with WWE following Roman Reign’s departure due to leukaemia. Octagon return was expected for the beast by early 2019, and his already fought battle of words with Cormier had intensified as well. However, Lesnar shook hands with Vince McMahon and won the Pro Wrestling Championship once again, which will now keep him busy for a significant amount of time although no deadlines are yet being given. The secretive nature of the deal may suggest Lesnar to be out of UFC action for quite some time now.

Cormier will now seek a chance to reinvent his rivalry with Jon Jones and will look to complete his trilogy with Jones. Dana White is yet to issue any comments.

Ray Borg’s dismal year continues

Ray Borg is at the crisscross of his life, and 2018 is proving to be a pain for the fighter as he is ruled out against Joseph Benavidez following ‘medical issues’. He was scheduled to take of Joseph at UFC Denver. Borg had previously cancelled his fight against Brandon Moreno although that was due to McGregor’s bus attack which saw shreds of glass in his eyes. The worst of all, his son had to battle brain cancer, which saw UFC fans donate heavily, but in that period his rescheduled fight with Moreno had to be quashed. Borg had pulled out of a fight with Demetrious Johnson sighting illness although he did fight with Johnson and tasted defeat at his hands.
