Latest MMA News (Week 1 December 2018)

Mike Ekundayo may be the most lethal fighter without any spotlight

Not many are rated highly by Nathaniel Wood, and when he bestowed Ekundayo with the tag of ‘strongest bantamweight’ it was clear that he was destined for greatness. A grinder rather than a mesmerizer, Ekundayo has always worked tirelessly in perfecting his takedowns, and that has resulted in the nickname ‘Airlines’. He considers himself as a grafter and said that he never felt the need for flamboyance and working without the influence of it has helped him.

When he takes on Jack Shore, his identity as Team Titans ‘top secret’ will spill out, believes Ekundayo. Cage Warriors is often seen as the stepping stone to MMA success, and Ekundayo feels this is the time to show the World his mantle. Jack Shore is not far behind as he is already considered a potential contender to rule the rooster at MMA soon. A guy of minimal words, Ekundayo is ready to take this match as any other test and feels no special detailing would be needed. He recounted his time at Bellator 200 and said that he has been pitted as an underdog before as well, the situation doesn’t intimidate him.

The signing of Greg Hardy will be a crushing blow to MMA’s ethos and Rachel Ostovich

Rachel Ostovich is one of the bravest fighters in MMA today, and this was proved three weeks ago when after being a victim of domestic violence she chose to keep on schedule and fight Paige VanZant. However, UFC which has strongly advocated for the betterment and encouragement of women in the past will now be under the hammer as the infamous Greg Hardy is set to join them. Hardy was banned by NFL on accounts of several domestic violence and has been facing the wrath of many sports fans since.

Hardy’s attitude has been unpleasant to say the least and that has further added to the fuel. His ex-girlfriend may have dropped the case, but the unofficial judgement was passed way earlier. The signs are not ominous for UFC, and this may result in an outburst from Ostovich and other fighters who would feel the same.

Sijara Eubanks on her way to Bantamweight

Sijara will now ply her trade in the 125 pounds division as ESPN, and then a tweet from Sijara confirmed the news. Her move to 135 pounds can be largely credited to her being overweight before her fight against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 230. Sarj was once believed to take on Valentina Shevchenko, but her weight problems came in between. Sijara has had issues with her weight for some time now, and her decision to move up the weight ladder seems to be the best option.
