Hughie Fury could be In line for Kubrat Pulev IBF Eliminator
Hughie Fury could be In line for Kubrat Pulev IBF Eliminator, as Jarrell Miller hasn’t agreed a deal yet.
23-year-old British heavyweight titleholder Hughie Fury could get closer to snatching the IBF heavyweight title from Antony Joshua if Jarrel Miller continues to sit on the contract that should see him fight Kubrat Pulev.
Fury, ranked No. 5 by the IBF, is hovering around with a hawk-eye to see what transpires, now that Epic Sports has been handed the purse deal to stage the fight.
The bout, which will determine who Antony Joshua fights next for the IBF crown will take place probably in the United States. Miller’s promoter Dmitry Salita says that he is still looking at other potential opponents.
“From what I understand,” Said Salita, “they’ve had some discussions about not doing the fight in the United States. I think there is an openness to it, but obviously, they would have to comment on that.”
Fury won gold for England in the 2012 Youth World Championships in the super-heavyweight. He was crowned the British heavyweight last Match after stopping Sam Sexton in the fifth round in Bolton.
IBF communications officer Jeanette Salazar said: “If Miller were to pull out, then we would go back to the ratings, and then we would go in order, and it would be the first leading available contender.”
He also added that Miller has 15 days to accept or turn down the contract. “We are still within that 15-day period.”
Dalian Whyte withdrew from a possible eliminator with Kubrat Pulev putting Fury in the line, in case Miller too backs off. Fury(who is seemingly in better shape) if his last fight with Sexton is anything to go by will seize the opportunity gladly.
It is after this match that Fury expressed his interest in a world title, saying, “I dream to be a world champion. Whoever has got those belts – I’m coming. Although I lost [to Parker], I’m coming. I’m ready to fight.”I was confident. My body has got so much stronger.”
Evidently, facing Pulev gives any pugilist great leap forward since the winner automatically becomes the IBF mandatory challenger to face Antony Joshua. Joshua is currently among the best-rated heavyweight boxers world over.
It is also rumoured that Miller could face WBA “regular heavyweight champion, Manuel Charr.
Bulgarian 37-seven -year old Pulev (26-13KO, 1) was the European heavyweight title titleholder between 2012 and 2016. Pulev was also the unified heavyweight in 2014.
He has had an illustrious career and, going by his age; he is anticipatedly looking forward to having his next fight settled.
Another indicator that Miller is likely to pull out of the eliminator challenge is his promoters observations. Salita said that Miller is only keen to fight in “meaningful fights.”
He wants to fight the best fighters in the world; he wants to progress his career. “ Said Salita. “As a result of the last fight, when he beat Johann Duhaupas, he became mandatory to fight the winner of Charr-Oquendo, so that is something that we’re interested in.”
Whatever happens in the next few days, Fury will be watching with keen interest.
