It’s is almost a done deal according to promoter Tom Loeffler. The boxing promoter announced earlier this week that Gennady Golovkin would be happy to come to the United Kingdom to defend his three middleweight world titles against the new face on the block, Chris Eubank Jr. “The two sides are now “working on finalising details, GGG is willing to go to the UK to defend his world titles, and it would be a huge event,” Loeffler told the Associated Press. “Hopefully, we can get the fight signed, and soon be able to give everyone the confirmation they are all waiting for!
Eddie Hearn confirmed this and had also said that both parties are busy working on securing the deal and agreeing on terms. If everything can be agreed and the deal done the fight is expected to take place in September the prestigious O2 Arena.
Chris Eubank Jr defeated Tom Doran in his last fight and following his victory called out the WBA Super, WBC and IBF World champion and make it clear to all that were listening he wanted to fight. Golovkin has an impressive record to his name, stopping twenty-two of this opponent in a row, a feat that Eubank Jr will be all to aware about. However, Eubank has his own force to be reckoned with and has himself an impressive record showing twenty-three wins, one loss and eighteen by way of knock out.
Eubank Jr will be a tough fight for Golovkin, and the gritty Englishman has shown that he has picked up a lot of the skills that led his father Chris Eubank Snr to the great success he enjoyed in the sport. So, along with everyone else in the sport we all have to wait with baited breath for the announcement and date and then we can all look forward to what will be a fantastic fight.
