It appears that since Michael Bisping knocked out Luke Rockhold to become the new Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight Champion, there has been a queue of people knocking on his door to have a go at taking his title away from him. One person supposedly knocking is the great Georges St-Pierre or GSP as he is more known as. The former Welterweight Champion stepped out of the Octagon and into a movie set following his last victory when he defeated Johny Hendricks in November 2013. The fight went the distance, and GSP won by a split decision. But was the fact that yet again he couldn’t put his opponent away from the decisive factor in calling it a day? GSP had gone the distance in his previous six fights, and all of his opponents left it to the judges to decide the winner. Fortunately, for GSP he won all six fights but the last time GSP stopped an opponent was way back in 2009 when B.J.Penn was unable to continue and pulled from the fight in round four.
So now with Michael Bisping as the Champion rumours have started circulating that GSP may well consider coming out of retirement to face the new Champ. When speaking to Bisping about the list of potential contenders and his thoughts on facing GSP, he said this “It kind of had come on my radar and those words really get me excited, you know. Fighting the great Georges St-Pierre, and for the title of who has the most wins in UFC history, that alone is a fantastic tagline and great promotion. Of course, the numbers would be fantastic with Georges St-Pierre because he’s a massive proven draw and at the end of the day, we are all trying to generate as much money as possible. I do want to defend the belt, and makes as much money in the process. I would certainly be open to sending St-Pierre back to a movie set because that would be a fight I would definitely win. And if Georges St-Pierre is listening, buddy, anytime you fancy it, be a man and sign on the dotted line, and your return will be short-lived. But whoever it is, Georges St-Pierre, Dan Henderson, Jacare Souza, whoever it is, please line them and I will knock them down.”
As for fighting Chris Weidman Bisping had this to say “All American” needs to get back into the win column first before he challenges for the strap.” So let’s see who it is that step into the Octagon next to take on Bisping.
